Artist Catherine Moon Masters is a native of the Roaring Fork Valley where she attended Carbondale Community School and Colorado Rocky Mountain School before earning a dual degree in Evolutionary Biology and Physical Anthropology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She worked as an apprentice gardener and sat on her pillow for thousands of hours while living and practicing for three years at San Francisco Zen Center temples Green Gulch Farm, Tassajara and City Center. Catherine then worked for AmeriCorps teaching underprivileged elementary school children nutrition and organic gardening in Madison, Wisconsin before moving to Germany with her husband who researches nuclear fusion at the Max Planck Institute of Plasma Physics.
