GrassRoots TV Services for Local Non-Profits
One of the most important goals of GrassRoots Community Television is to help local non-profits clearly communicate their programs, missions, events, presentations and funding needs to their constituents, clients, funding sources and the general public. 135 different non-profit organizations used GrassRoots TV last year. Several have had regular shows with us for over a decade.
GrassRoots TV provides your organization many options whereby you can completely control your message. We eliminate the interpretation, inaccuracies and editing of journalistic media, while providing mass communication mediums at exceptionally low cost. GrassRoots TV is your most efficient and effective medium for communicating with our community.

Distribution:
GrassRoots TV is viewed in 10,000 cable households, home to approximately 18,000 full and part-time residents between Aspen and Carbondale, including Basalt and Snowmass Village, plus approximately 10,000 guest pillows in the valley. Cable penetration will expand to include Carbondale and Aspen Glen by July 1, 2010.
As of January 2010, GrassRoots TV is also being digitally broadcast over the Pitkin County Translator system throughout the Roaring Fork drainage including the Crystal and Fryingpan River Valleys, all of Missouri Heights, Old Snowmass and Redstone. Anyone with a rooftop antenna can receive this high quality digital signal at no cost.
GrassRoots TV is also webcast worldwide. All programming can be viewed either via a live stream of our live broadcast or on-demand whenever anyone wishes to watch a particular program via grassrootstv.org. You can link your program to your website, e-mails or social media to enable interested parties to watch anywhere in the world.

Below are brief descriptions and pricing for a variety of established uses of television and web video GrassRoots TV provides local non-profits. As a community access center, we encourage you to imagine alternative uses of TV and video that we can help you realize and distribute using GrassRoots facilities and distribution channels, or any other electronic medium you choose.
No-Charge Services
Valley Billboard
As a Roaring Fork Valley 501(c)3 organization, GrassRoots TV provides you with unlimited access to the Valley Billboard. Post any graphic, text or short video information (under 30 seconds) on GrassRoots TV at no charge, whenever you like, as many as you like. GrassRoots staff will train your staff how to create and post information using our web-based system or using your own in-house Photoshop, PowerPoint or outside graphic designer. Click here for more information.The Valley Billboard airs every day, throughout the programming day, between regular programs. Viewers tune into the Forum for non-profit information, event notices, up to the minute NOAA weather forecast, Aspen Skiing Company snow conditions and Colorado Avalanche Center forecasts. A twelve second slide will air at least 36 times per day. Repetitions of video clips vary dependent on length.
Pre-produced Films or Videos
GrassRoots TV will air pre-produced long-format (over 20 minutes) programs twice in available airtimes of our choice at no charge. For example, if you are presenting a film to the community, reach the entire community by airing it GrassRoots TV. We can guarantee additional scheduled airtimes for a small programming fee.If you already have a short promotional or informational video (under 20 minutes) about your organization we can air it in available time of our choice throughout the year, again at no charge. All programs must be on a DVD with no menu choices. We can transfer programs into the required format, plus add simple acknowledgement or information end graphics for $50 per half hour of original program length.
Guest On A Regular Program
Several GrassRoots TV programs are already fully underwritten, and their community producer/hosts could be interested in spotlighting your efforts or events. There is no charge to guests on regular shows. It is entirely the producer’s call, but GrassRoots TV can introduce you to the producer of a show we feel might match your goals.Back to the top
Services for Fee
Create your own original programs using GrassRoots TV broadcast production facilities, including full staff support. Our staff and volunteers can take care of virtually all technical aspects of production. Most of the cost of production and distribution is covered by local contributions, local grants and fundraising, allowing you to produce broadcast quality television for exceptionally low production fees:
Studio programs
The GrassRoots TV Community Studio is a friendly, full service, low cost production facility open to all members of our community. The GrassRoots staff provides all the technical support including the operation of three cameras, live switcher, audio, PowerPoint or other computer or video interface, established sets, lighting, graphics… everything you need to create a talk show or demonstration program. Studio fees include regularly scheduled airtimes and inclusion on our GrassRoots Video Now video-on-demand webcast serviceField Production
GrassRoots TV uses full size Sony Broadcast DVcam and XDcam cameras to record your conferences, presentations, events, lectures or any other recording need outside the studio. We can also live switch multiple cameras and interface with PowerPoint or video presentations. We also provide technical production support for camera equipped community rooms in Aspen, Snowmass and Basalt.From concept to completion, GrassRoots TV staff can help your organization create custom productions to communicate your mission, programs, successes and funding efforts to clients and donors. All field productions rates include the same production support and cable, broadcast and web distribution as studio productions. Standard rates are for 4-hour periods.

Underwriting
Fees for services can be underwritten by anyone. Most often, organizations pay for production out of public relations, outreach or educational budgets, but many non-profit programs are underwritten by business sponsors, foundations or donors. Underwriters receive full recognition of their contribution to your organization and for supporting community programming.
For-profit business underwriting messages may include substantive information about the business but may not include prices or calls to action. Consider adding this excellent public relations exposure to your sponsor packages.
