The Aspen Science Center
At the Aspen Science Center's Physics-is-for-Kids BBQs and Lectures, kids of all ages are interested in:
For example, the Large Hadron Collider went online! What does this mean? It means it's time to head to the Intergalactically-famous Physics-Is-for-Kids BBQs & Lectures to discover what secrets of the (subatomic) universe could be unlocked by this happening!
We cover everything from antimatter to galaxy formation to the size of the Universe and everything in it.....so come every Wednesday from mid-June to mid-August and enjoy food for the body and the mind! Where else can you discuss quantum tunneling with a Nobel Laureate over a cheeseburger?
Our BBQs are the perfect combination of fun, food, eminent scientists, and engaged kids--we fed, enlightened and illuminated over 2100 community members last summer, breaking the previous year's record. These events take place on Wednesday afternoons during the summer on the campus of the Aspen Center for Physics; scientists participating in the programs of the Physics Center engage kids in lively discussions of science. (We consider attracting over 200 kids and parents to learn about string theory, given all of the competition from sports, music, Ideas Festival, jazz, etc., to be a major accomplishment!)
