GrassRoots TV Airs “Nick DeWolf Day”

ASPEN, CO – GrassRoots TV 12, the first community television station in the nation celebrating its 35th anniversary, is pleased to announce it will air 24-hours of programming featuring longtime supporter, Nick DeWolf, starting at 1:00am, Saturday, April 29th.  “Nick DeWolf Day” will feature footage or programming in which Nick was a guest or that he produced.  Some highlights include:  “Nick’s Journals” of Vietnam and Burning Man, “History of GrassRoots TV” (1981), Hall of Fame Speech (2006), and “Greening of Aspen” with Aspen Daily News owner, David Danforth.

According to Corby Anderson, station manager and executive producer at GrassRoots TV, “GrassRoots TV wouldn’t be here today if not for Nick DeWolf.  He literally saved us with his ingenuity and unique vision when the station was going through a difficult transition in the 80s.  He moved GrassRoots from being run by a bunch of professionals to putting it back in the hands of the regular people. He opened the station up to the community; he was adamant that everyone have access.  He technically rebuilt the station to simplify production, so anyone could come in and do a show which we have continued and expanded over the last few years.  He was also the pioneer of the community bulletin board which community television stations all over the country now use, so community members have access.  Plus, we adored his energy.  He was freaky.”
