GRASSROOTS TV12 ANNOUNCES WINNERS
OF ASPEN POKER CHAMPIONSHIP

ASPEN, Colo. -- The 3rd Annual Aspen Poker Championship to benefit GrassRoots TV12, the nation’s first community television station celebrating its 35th anniversary, held on Sunday September 9th at Jimmy’s An American Restaurant & Bar was a great success. After many hours of grueling game play, GrassRoots TV12 is pleased to announce that local Tom Coggins won first prize, a ticket to the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas.

“Every successful poker player needs skill and luck, and I just happened to have both,” Tom said with a big grin on his face.

“GrassRoots is very appreciative of the time and support its board and volunteers put into this event.  It’s growing into a fun event that everyone wants to attend.  We also want to thank the many prize donors who made winning all the more exciting.  A special thanks to Jimmy and his staff for a great, well-fed event,” said John Master, executive director, GrassRoots TV12.

Ten other top players earned prizes:

  • 2nd place, Robert Cypher, won the 42” Marantz Plasma TV from Audio Edge,
  • 3rd place, Jamie Hartrich, won the 2008 Aspen Golf Club 20 punch pass,
  • 4th place, Matt Lilleberg, won a week’s stay in Sarasota, Florida,
  • 5th place, Jimmy Yeager, won 15% ownership in Tom Coggins’s net prize at the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event,
  • 6th place, Gordon Gersen, won an Aspen Recreation Center 20 punch pass,
  • 7th place, Steve Knowles, won an Aspen Club & Spa “Aspen Spa Indulgence” package,
  • 8th place, Joe Hope, won 10% ownership in Tom Coggins’s net prize in the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event. 
  • 9th place, Candy Bridgman, won a day at the Aspen Racing Sports Car Club in Woody Creek, and
  • 10th place, Rick Balentine, won two nights at Independence Square in Aspen.
