GRASSROOTS TV ANNOUNCES EXCITING SUMMER LINE-UP
ASPEN, CO – GrassRoots TV, the nation’s first community television station entering its 35th anniversary year, is pleased to announce an exciting summer programming line-up. Along with longtime favorites, GrassRoots TV will be airing new productions from local producers, and airing a variety of very popular summer lectures.
According to John Masters, executive director at GrassRoots TV, “We recently conducted a survey to determine our viewership, among other things, and it revealed that local viewers don’t know they can come in and produce their own shows. The summer line-up includes shows that are exclusively produced by community members, so come on in, it’s easy to make TV, and we’re here to help you. We’re all about providing access for the community.”
Returning to the GrassRoots TV summer line-up are longtime favorite producers Andrew Kole, Jerry Bovino, Erik Skarvan and Oliver Sharpe. According to the recent survey, 19% of local viewers watch “Andrew Kole: Unsolicited,” 12% watch “The Jerry Bovino Show,” and 12% watch “The Local’s Show” weekly.
In addition, “The Jerry Bovino Show” was voted by local viewers “Most Outstanding Guest” and “Most Outstanding Host” at this year’s Grassies Awards. “The Local’s Show” received the Rookie Award for “Best New Series.” And, “Andrew Kole: Unsolicited” received the “Most Outstanding Use of the 1st Amendment” award.
Additional Grassies Awards winners remaining in the GrassRoots TV lineup with a multi-year history on GrassRoots TV include “AWF Reads”(Most Outstanding Non-Profit Series), “Healthy Lifestyles” (Most Informative Series), “Medicine in the Mountain,” (Most Outstanding Use of Community Television), and “The Changing Paradigm with Dr. Patricia Hill” (Most Outstanding Producer).
Newer to the GrassRoots TV producer community with returning shows this summer include: “AVMF presents: Portraits of Giving,” “Maharaji: Words of Peace,” “ACRA presents: All the Best,” “Art Matters,” “Progressive Business,” “The Sandra Glosser Show,” and “What’s Up! with Jeannie Walla.“
Making a debut appearance on GrassRoots TV this summer are “Bernie’s Mid-Valley Journal,” “Life on the Green Side,” “Sustainable Solutions,” and “Weekly Bible Lesson.” Returning after a brief hiatus are “The Spike Report,” and “Quills of History.”
Local lectures are very popular programming on GrassRoots TV in the summer season. According to the survey, 15% of viewers watched the Aspen Institute lectures which received the “Most Outstanding Lecture” Grassies Award. Other lectures to look for this summer on GrassRoots TV come from Aspen Center for Physics, The Given Institute, and the Aspen Global Change Institute.
