GrassRoots Community Television Complaint Policy

GrassRoots TV encourages any and all feedback on programming and policies.  Written, signed feedback is preferred to ensure accuracy and enable a response.  GrassRoots TV keeps a permanent file on all written complaints, open to the public and possible funding sources.

Most often, feedback comes in oral form as a phone call, phone message or personal response.  Staff will then attempt to either satisfy the complaint with explanation or fulfillment.  If staff is unable to satisfy the complaining party, we request they state it in writing, or in the case of a disagreement with a statement made on a program, also offer them the opportunity to appear on GrassRoots TV to publicly refute to correct the statement.

We have not received any written complaints during the last 5 years.  There is no record of written complaints filed before that time.

GrassRoots Community Television Access Policy

GrassRoots TV strives to remove political, technical, social and economic barriers to access for local residents.  We will air once any technically acceptable videotape provided by a local resident or organization, assuming the provider has he right to air the program.  Air time is free.

It is the policy of GrassRoots Television, in accordance with the Cable Communications Act, to not air material that is obscene. In this regard, obscene material is that which is grossly repugnant to community notions of appropriateness and includes any material that promotes hate or is designed to denigrate any racial, ethnic, religious, gender or sexual orientaion group.

We attempt to provide production facilities, expertise and training at the lowest possible cost to community members interested in producing their own programming. 

Staff attempts to match individual requests to appear on GrassRoots TV with existing producers and underwritten programs.  This enables the occasional requester to access the channel without the challenge of creating their own program or underwriting studio fees.

Some requests require field production capabilities GrassRoots TV is not capable of at this time due to equipment needs.  We will suggest hiring local commercial production companies to produce the program, which we will then air for free
