Founded: November, 1971; the nation’s first and oldest non-profit community access television station. Designated Government Access Provider for Pitkin County, The City of Aspen and the Town of Snowmass Village.

Mission Statement: To protect and nurture open channels of communication for the citizens of the Roaring Fork Valley.

Distribution Area: 10,000 Comcast cable subscribers (15,000 viewers) in Aspen, Snowmass Village, Basalt, and unincorporated Pitkin, Eagle and Garfield Counties, Colorado.  Streaming World-wide at grassrootstv.org

March 2006 Scientific Survey Key Findings:

• 62% of cable subscribers (9,300 valley residents) watch GrassRoots TV weekly. 
• 27% of cable subscribers (4,050 valley residents) watch several times per week.
• 92% of cable subscribers say GrassRoots TV adds value to their cable service;
• 43% say it “greatly adds value;”

Demographics of Regular GrassRoots TV viewers:
           
• 53% Female            47% Male
• 53% are between the ages of 35 and 54. Average viewer age: 51
• 52% earn over $100,000 per year; 36% earn over $150,000 per year
• 69% college degree; 32% post-graduate study
• 64% are married; 15% have never been married
• 37% have children at home;
• Average viewer has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for 19 years:
• 69% live in Aspen;
• 82% own a home in the Roaring Fork Valley;
• 93% of those, it is their primary residence;           
• 86% are registered to vote in Colorado;
• 63% follow politics and government actions “all the time”;
