Free Range Forum
The Free Range Forum (formerly the Community Information Center) community bulletin board is now available to all legitimate 501(c)3 charities in the Roaring Fork Valley that would like to publicize their program offerings, special events, mission statements, or other general messages or information about their organizations to the public on GrassRoots TV12.
“The Free Range Forum pays homage to the late Nick DeWolf’s original vision in the early 80s of an unrestricted, community intra-net for postings and discussion. Nick was the pioneer of the community bulletin board which community television stations all over the country now use, so community members have access. We can now take that a step further from Nick’s original vision, and offer local non-profits total control over their messages to the community via internet access to our televised bulletin board thanks to a generous underwriting gift from Chaffin Light Real Estate,” said John Masters, executive director of GrassRoots TV.
According to Brad Manosevitz, manager of the Free Range Forum at GrassRoots TV, “Every non-profit in the valley now has free access to the community they serve. They can post as many messages as they’d like, use their own logos, photos, video and audio.” Interested non-profits should contact Brad Manosevitz to schedule a complimentary, 2-hour training session at 925-8000 x3 or bradman@grassrootstv.org.
In addition, the audio portion of Free Range Forum is made up entirely of independent music composed by local bands and musicians. NPR and local radio news from Aspen Public Radio will remain the audio bed during the Free Range Forum’s full-hour of daily programming from 7:00am to 8:00am, and 4:30pm to 5pm. The Free Range Forum runs throughout the rest of the programming day between regular programs and filling open airtimes.
Any local musician or band with a CD who wishes to contribute to the Free Range Forum audio bed can bring it to Brad Manosevitz at the GrassRoots TV station, 110 E. Hallam Street, Suite 132 in Aspen or email a mpeg file to: bradman@grassrootstv.org.
