Underwriting :: Field Productions

Sports: GrassRoots TV12’s popular sports programming includes Aspen High School and Roaring Fork High School competitive sports, State Championship games, Ruggerfest and Recreational League competition.

By underwriting high school athletics you help GrassRoots TV12 fulfill its mission to strengthen our community by making television a socially responsible medium. Besides the natural entertainment value of seeing local kids and neighbors compete, airing of these games is also an acknowledgement by the community that we value the students’ lives and activities, especially those who strive to stay physically, academically and socially involved in positive endeavors.

High School athletics include: basketball, hockey, soccer, softball, volleyball, football, baseball and lacrosse.  Athletic events cost $500 each to shoot and air. Half of this cost is covered by our operating budget. We, therefore, need supplemental game, sport or seasonal underwriters to cover the remaining $250. Events air at least 3 times. Underwriters receive one free copy of program.

In addition, underwriters receive graphic acknowledgement at the beginning and end of the broadcast, plus numerous announcer mentions throughout the game. They may place a banner on the wall or fence to appear in isolated sponsor ID’s and often in passing during the game, plus recognition by spectators and public announcers.

Lectures:  GrassRoots TV12 and its viewers are fortunate to be the community television station for an international center of ideas, and host to premier speakers from diverse disciplines. GrassRoots TV12 provides an eye and ear for all local cable subscribers to become better informed, empowered and enlightened on both a universal and personal level.

Most public speeches and lectures in the Roaring Fork Valley are available for airing on GrassRoots TV12. As with all of our programming, we try to raise half the price of shooting and airing through community-wide funding. We need the other half ($250) underwritten by organizations, businesses and individuals in order to record and air these important presentations. Sometimes the presenting sponsor or organization is able to pay the underwriting fee. Most often, the community as a whole misses out on great speakers due to lack of funding.

GrassRoots TV needs your help to present great speakers to the entire community. You can underwrite single lectures or help with an entire series. No other media reaches Aspen’s educated and influential residents and visitors with such important content. Your support of GrassRoots TV12’s lecture programs, which repeat throughout the year, says you care about building and sustaining a literate and educated community.

There are many opportunities to support the airing of a community lecture. Current local lecture venues include: The Aspen Center for Physics, The Aspen Institute, The Given Institute, and The Rocky Mountain Institute.  Please help us add to the diversity of our lecture programming by underwriting other presenters of special interest. Again, this is a way for you to promote or otherwise help publicize the message of your favorite local non-profits and apparently align or partner your business with the presenting presenter.

Community Events:  You can determine which of the multitude of special and annual public events GrassRoots TV12 records, airs and archives for history by helping underwrite your favorite occasions.  If you are a supporter or fan of local theatre, civic events, art installations and openings, community parties, school productions or any other occasion you believe would be of interest to other viewers, please contact us with your idea.  Possible events include: Civic Meetings (Aspen Valley Hospital Board of Directors, RE-1 School Board), Theater, Parades, Picnics, Recitals, and Openings
