John Masters, Executive Director
Managing a non-profit, non-commercial, open-channel media requires a passion for freedom, joy for chaos and blind faith in the wisdom of your neighbors. It is important to embrace every risk every day, ignore the stifling constricts of commercial media, remain politically neutral, personally non-judgmental and encourage anyone who wishes to express themselves to use this community channel to courageously speak to their neighbors and now the entire world. Most important is to find a talented, stalwart and slightly crazed crew to sign onto the uncharted voyage.
Previous to becoming Executive Director in 2001, John founded and operated several small town television stations, produced over a thousand television programs, and skied every day he could. He moved to the Roaring Fork Valley from the Eastern Sierra in 1990. He has degrees in Television and Radio Production, and in Business Administration from The University of Oregon. He lives somewhere up the Crystal River with his wife Maura, daughter Catherine and son Will. Pancho and Lucy too.
